Amazon already spoiled the surprise, but just in case you were not sure, Warner Bros. has issued the official press release annoucing the June 28th release of The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition on Blu-ray. The 15 disc set is essential identical to the originial DVD extended release from five or so years ago with the 9 DVDs of extras and the other 6 discs being the Blu-ray edition of the movies broken into two parts each just like then. The extras are all the same and from I can tell nothing new is being added. If you already own the extended editions on DVD, what you are really deciding is if the upgrade to Blu-ray is worth the cost.
